Specialist Services: Acquired Brain Injury

We are passionate about delivering timely, functional and client-centered speech and language therapy to clients with acquired brain injury funded pre- or post-litigation.

At Communicate, we aim to deliver a truly bespoke assessment and intervention that empowers our clients to gain/regain effective communication skills, develop communication confidence and work towards achieving their wider aspirations.

We work closely with case managers, solicitors, financial deputies and all allied health professionals to provide holistic and functional assessments and interventions.

We strongly believe in the involvement of family, where appropriate, and provide support, education and guidance in a sensitive and timely manner.

Working in collaboration with education settings, we work to ensure that communication support and intervention are integrated into teaching and learning.

  • Comprehensive formal and informal assessment
  • A client-centered intervention plan
  • Multidisciplinary team rehabilitation planning, implementation and evaluation
  • Detailed speech and language therapy reports, including recommendations and estimated costs
  • Direct face-to-face intervention
  • Remote intervention delivered by video conferencing
  • Support in the community to establish barriers and to support generalisation and use of strategies and new skills
  • Bespoke training, formal and informal, to families, education and care teams
  • Comprehensive support for the assessment and provision of voice output communication aids (VOCA)
  • Expertise within the Education Health and Care plan (EHCP) process, including comprehensive reports tailored to the client’s local authority
  • Working closely, where possible, with statutory speech and language therapy services to coordinate service delivery
  • We do not provide expert witness assessments and reports

What’s The Process?

  • We will arrange an introductory conversation to discuss your needs and share information regarding time frames and fees
  • If you wish to go ahead with a referral, you will be sent a link to fill in our online referral form
  • On receipt of signed terms of business we will arrange the initial assessment sessions with you and/or the client
  • After the assessment sessions are completed, a detailed assessment report will be written that includes recommendations and associated costs for ongoing intervention
  • Following approval we will implement the intervention recommendations
